Our Story
Hi, I’m Sarah, the artist behind Who Dog Studios.
I first picked up a crochet hook in 1989, learning from artist Risa Benson while assisting her in her studio. For over a decade, I worked alongside her as she crafted tiny silk jewelry and bags. Those years taught me the patience, care, and artistry of working with fibers — lessons that still shape everything I make today.
My path as an artist took me to the University of the Arts and later Tyler School of Art, where I earned my BFA with a background in jewelry, glassblowing, and fibers. I’ve explored many mediums — glass, wood, metal, mixed media — but fiber arts have always called me back. There’s comfort, warmth, and originality in every stitch, whether it’s a sweater, a hat, a baby blanket, or something cozy for the home.
These days, most of my making happens at home while I care for my mother, who has survived several strokes. Caring for her is a lifelong partnership, one I’m grateful for. My studio time happens in between meals, laundry, and caring for our two rescue dogs and six cats. Creating in this way has deepened my appreciation for the role of comfort, empathy, and warmth in everyday life.
Every piece you’ll find here is one-of-a-kind — made to bring coziness, joy, and a touch of playfulness to your daily rituals. I hope when you wear or use one of my creations, you feel special, wrapped in something original, and maybe even a little amused.
When you support Who Dog Studios, you’re not just buying handmade — you’re helping me continue creating while also caring for my mom and our lively household. It means the world to me to share my work with people who value originality, warmth, and a bit of funky, creative spirit.
Welcome — I’m so glad you’re here.
